EP25: [Marketing Mindset] What does it mean to be an Online Marketer – Part 1?
Welcome back, friends.
Yeah I know, if I've said it once I've said it a thousand times.
“Most of the online marketing information shared by the Gurus is designed to confuse you, the naive buyer into purchasing their products.”
If you knew the truth, you would not purchase their products. Their products will not EDUCATE you and provide the continuing education you really need.
There is a reason why lawyers go to college to learn their craft. And why there are laws that only allow a person that has a diploma and passed the Bar Exam to practice Law.
Anyone that has been represented by a lawyer appreciates knowing they are educated and not someone that just took a few classes online.
Their life, business, and family may be at risk if their choice of a lawyer was a mistake.
So, I must ask you, why do we all think anyone can just waltz in, throw up a website and start practicing the craft of marketing WITHOUT first becoming educated?
I don't want to sound like a hardass, and I know it could easily sound that way, but I have seen too many people get hurt by marketers who take advantage of unwary customers who just wanted a piece of the dream.
Online marketing is a business.
Big Business!!
Now even more than ever.
But it is deceiving.
It's easy to go online and look at a website and think, “I can do that”.
“I can replicate what they have. Replicate their tripwire product and squeeze page. Replicate their sales page and product.”
“I can even replicate their emails too.”
Yes…
Yes, you can.
You definitely could replicate all those things, and most likely still fail in the process.
Why?
Because those are just the things you can see. You haven't replicated the unseen things that are being done in the background.
You skipped ALL the hard work.
Did you:
Set up an autoresponder?
Set up Facebook Ads?
Set up Facebook Ads manager and the FB Pixel?
Set up Google and its pixel?
Create a funnel?
Learn how to write copy for the different pieces of the business? Like emails, landing page, squeeze page, sales pages and much much more?
These are just a few things you need to know how to do. And when I say few things, I really mean is ALL the vast amount of things we ALL must know to be successful.
To be clear here.
You cannot just copy things. They must be adjusted to resonate with your audience.
That's another thing.
Who is your audience?
Do you know?
It can not be everyone.
No one has enough money to market to them. You would run out of your advertising budget before you ever narrow down who you are even serving.
These are only a couple of reasons why marketers MUST be educated.
If not by me, then by someone else.
Their mentor, guide, instructor, trainer, whatever title they go by, must be knowledgeable and capable of imparting sound knowledge and answering ALL the difficult questions.
It takes a tribe to raise a child.
It takes a university of educators to train a lawyer.
It takes sophisticated and impactful training to educate an online marketer.
Have you been educated?
Can you compete with the best of the best online marketers alive today?
Of course, if they use their well-known name you could not compete with them.
But standing side-by-side with them, all things being equal, do you think you could do as well as them in a shootout?
Back at the OK Corral.
Each of you takes your tool, your six-gun, who gets to survive?
Many times, you don't usually know about it, lots of gurus are involved in real shootouts. Sure they call them leader boards. They are competing with one another to be at the top of the board. There is a prize waiting at the top.
And never forget the bragging rights of being a top dog.
Don't you want to be good enough to be able to compete with the best of the best?
It does not happen by just replicating successful marketing funnels.
It happens by becoming educated and building a successful business.
Next week we will continue walking down this path, and start discussing a few things trained marketers must do to become successful.
Hope to see you there.
Until then…
Stay safe, be well, and keep your nose clean.
I don't know why I said that!
Reminds me of something I was told as a kid.
Good advice anyway.
See ya!
