Let's Break Down the Struggle!
In order for you to nurture your leads and then turn them into customers, you first need to get them to become subscribers to your list.
To do this you will need to learn how to turn website visitors into leads. So we need to help you learn how to lay out the steps you need to do just that.
You will need to learn also how to use conversion strategies to optimize opt-in rates.
Then you need to inject some mojo into your list building for faster subscriber growth.
Turning Your Visitors into Subscribers ...
Today we are going to focus on the first parts of your email list building plan, where you will be turning your visitors into subscribers by giving them great content on your blog, excellent content on landing pages, and then making sure they convert on those thank-you pages to become subscribers.
Why Will they Sign Up?
So you may be asking yourself, "Why will they sign up?"
They will be saying yes to your lead magnet which could be any one of the following:
- Resource Guide
- Audio program
- Video program
- Checklist
- Spreadsheet, etc.
You just need to try a few different things and see which ones work the best. If you are a podcaster, you can provide a Free podcast as a Lead Magnet. You could create a Video on YouTube that provides answers to a problem, or possible an over-the-shoulder video allowing the subscriber to learn from you quickly and easily. Maybe you have a checklist that helps you keep things organized.
The Power of Lead Magnets ...
In the last part, you found out that Lead Magnets are a huge step forward towards delivering your primary product or service. They allow you to take that interested person, place them on one of your lists so you can nurture them.
So you will need to create a variety of Lead Magnets to help you accelerate growing your list.
How to Capture Interest ...
On your blog you need to capture the interest of your readers too. You can do this a number of ways:
- Sidebar opt-in form
- Content upgrade in your most popular posts
- Footer opt-in opportunities
- Connect opt-ins to ESP via a webform and/or list
As an example I am using a Click To Tweet below. If you click on it you will be posting a Tweet. When one of your friends clicks on the Link to my Email List Building Blog Series, they will have an opportunity to learn how to build their list, and they may also decide to subscribe as well.
Don't forget you can send traffic, whether it is organic or paid, to landing pages. There you can incentivize the opt-in for a Lead Magnet. You would need to create a Landing Page and in doing so, you are providing individuals with something of value in exchange for their email.
They Signed Up ... What Next?
Once they click submit, they are sent to the Thank-you page. This page should thank them for subscribing, and reminding them that their Lead Magnet is being sent to their email.
You should give the new subscriber the ability to share your Lead Magnet with their friends as well. The trick is you would need to share the original opt-in page on the social media links, not the thank-you page.
This way when the new subscribers friends click on their link found in Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or Google+, they go straight to the opt-in page, and now they have an opportunity to subscribe for the Lead Magnet as well.
